Surgery Day
Be careful of your eyes(s)!!! DO NOT RUB, BUMP, TOUCH OR SQUEEZE YOUR EYELID(S), with the exception of a cold compress GENTLY laid over your closed eyes to help alleviate discomfort (a bag of frozen peas works extremely well).
You will be sent home wearing a contact 'bandage' lens to protect your eye(s). This lens is designed for extended wear and Dr. Dodd will put it in at the end of your surgery and we will remove it at your 1 day Post-Op appointment.
FIRST
24
HOURS
First 24 HOUR RESTRICTIONS include: We do not want you engaging in any activities that require intense focusing because we blink more often, which will prematurely dry your eyes out.
We DO EXPECT you to experience discomfort. Your eye(s) may be watery, feel gritty, sandy, burn or itch throughout the first 72 hours. Use your Refresh Plus tears, medications and comfort drops to help manage the discomfort as your eye(s) heal.
You may take up to 400mg of ibuprofen tablets every 4—6 hours and alternate it with the pain medication we have prescribed. If you still have more pain or discomfort, call our office at (503) 581-5287.
You may resume most normal activities 24 hours after surgery. Wear protective eye wear as necessary.
TV is ok! As long as you take the commercial breaks to stop, put your drops in and close your eyes to rest them on the commercial break.

1st Week After Surgery
Be careful of your eyes(s)!!! DO NOT RUB, BUMP, TOUCH OR SQUEEZE YOUR EYELID(S), with the exception of a cold compress GENTLY laid over your closed eyes to help alleviate discomfort (a bag of frozen peas works extremely well).
2 days after surgery you may allow clean, clear warm water to GENTLY run over your forehead and CLOSED EYELIDS from behind in the shower. This helps to melt away the crystallized debris that will accumulate on your lashes from the drops drying on them. ***DO NOT TOUCH ANY PART OF YOUR EYE(S) TO HELP REMOVE THIS DEBRIS***

NO shower water, shampoo, or soap in your eyes for 1 week.

No face make-up

NO riding motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs, horses, bicycles, roller blades, etc. for 1 week.

NO hot tubs, pools, bodies of water, saunas, tanning beds for 1 week.

Wear sunglasses outside to protect your eye(s) from sun, wind & airborne particles for 1 week.
It is normal for your vision to FLUCTUATE the first few months after surgery. We allow your vision to completely stabilize for 3—6 months before we judge the outcome of your surgery or discuss possible retreatments.
